About Ariel Pavic:

Ariel teaches hatha yoga to all levels, as well as a flow, vinyasa, power yoga to both beginners and advanced students. She also teaches pre and post natal yoga. As an experienced teacher, Ariel has taught thousands of class hours to thousands of students since 2001. Ariel continually upgrades her teaching skills by taking workshops, training and classes with some of the finest yoga teachers the world has to offer. Ariel is the director of the Teacher Development Program at Heart Centre Yoga studio in Burnaby Heights, where she continues to share her passion of learning with other teachers on this path of yoga. Ariel has a no nonsense, down to earth approach, sharp humor (be prepared to laugh during class...) and is known for her creative, invigorating yoga flows.

Ariel teaches all around the lower mainland of British Columbia, both in public, corporate and private environments. Her teaching draws on her background of contemporary movement training, jazz and ballet, personal yoga practice and intuition. A daughter of an architect and an artist, there was much encouragement of eclectic exploration in the world's religions, art, drama, reading, a belief in gnomes and magic....her's was not the average childhood!
Also, largely, on 17 years spent riding, showing and training horses in the art of Dressage, which she later realized was a meditative yogic dance with a large silent partner. Her natural capacity for teaching was evident at a young age, teaching riding lessons from the age of 15.

A riding injury which fractured 2 vertebrae left her with severe back problems for years, some yoga postures were suggested to her by a physiotherapist in the early 90's as an alternative to living life in pain, or dependency on pain killers. It wasn't until she fully embraced the practice as a life, not just a set of exercises done covertly lest be called out as "weird" that a true transformation of mind body and spirit could take place. It is this personal experience with injury and recovery through yoga that she continues to share with her students, and as a result she places an emphasis on safety and correct alignment in her classes. She makes a huge effort to combine anatomy and bio-mechanical principles within her yoga classes to help others who have suffered injury and hope to recover stronger and better though the practice of yoga.

One of her principle beliefs is that yoga is, and should be treated as, a therapy for the body. This driving belief aids her students to practice their own truth, from their own place of wisdom and make the yoga practice truly their own personal and sacred experience.

She lives in North Burnaby, British Columbia with her husband, young daughter and one west highland white terrier, Scamper. When not teaching yoga, Ariel volunteers, gardens, sews and reads as much as possible while not chasing a four year old around!

Along with her colorful life experience, she brings with her the following credentials:
